Apple has opened its Siri AI preview to all developers. That means the long-promised overhaul of its voice assistant is now available to anyone with access to the Apple Developer Program.
What developers are getting
Apple unveiled Siri AI at its Worldwide Developers Conference on June 8, 2026. Developer testing kicked off the same day through the Apple Developer Program.
The preview runs on iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27 and visionOS 27. Support for watchOS 27 is expected to come later.
The pitch centers on context. Siri AI is designed to pull from a user’s emails, photos and messages to understand what they actually mean.
Beyond personal context, the upgrade adds onscreen awareness and broader world knowledge. Siri can see what’s on your display and draw on general information when answering.
The feature with the most developer relevance is actions integration. Siri AI can carry out tasks inside third-party apps, with WhatsApp and Microsoft Outlook among the examples Apple has highlighted.
Craig Federighi, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Software Engineering, framed the goal plainly.
The new version was built to be a “dramatically more capable and conversational assistant.”

The intent, per Federighi, is to make finding information and getting tasks done faster for users.

The engine under the hood
Siri AI is powered by Apple Intelligence, the company’s broader AI platform. Much of the processing happens on-device using Apple Foundation Models.
Heavier lifting goes to Private Cloud Compute, Apple’s server setup built to handle requests without compromising user privacy.
Then there’s the twist. Certain Siri AI capabilities lean on collaborative models with Google’s Gemini.
The rollout timeline
Apple is moving in stages. The schedule calls for a public beta of iOS 27 in July 2026, followed by a full beta rollout on September 14, 2026.
That first phase focuses primarily on English. Five additional languages, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, are set to arrive by late October 2026.
Not everyone gets a seat. Siri AI requires compatible hardware, with the iPhone 15 Pro and later models named as eligible.
Access also isn’t automatic. Users must opt in, and early demand has reportedly led to waitlists in some cases.
Two major markets are left out entirely at launch. Siri AI will not be available in the EU or mainland China, with regulatory issues cited as the reason.
Background: a long road back
Siri has long been central to Apple’s software ecosystem. It has also long been criticized for falling behind competing assistants.
Apple previewed more ambitious Siri features back in 2024. What followed was an extended development cycle that left many users wondering whether the upgrade would ever ship.
The careful, staged deployment reflects the scale problem Apple faces: its ecosystem spans 2.5 billion active devices.
