In a post on X, Hayes shared a chart tracking dollar liquidity and said he expects Bitcoin to remain weak until monetary conditions begin to expand. His assessment centers on the amount of money circulating through the financial system and how easily investors can access capital for riskier assets.
Hayes Focuses on Dollar Liquidity
Hayes' framework identifies two important channels that could increase liquidity available to financial markets: asset purchases by the Federal Reserve and credit expansion by commercial banks.
Under this view, an expansion of central bank or banking-sector balance sheets could provide additional liquidity to the financial system. Until that process begins, Hayes expects Bitcoin to remain under pressure.
Fed Balance Sheet and Bank Reserves Decline
Federal Reserve data released for October 28 showed that the central bank's total assets stood at approximately $6.746 trillion. That represented a decline of about $8 billion from the previous week.
Bank reserves also recorded a larger weekly decrease. The weekly average of reserves held by banks at the Federal Reserve fell by approximately $68.8 billion to $2.894 trillion during the same period.
These figures provide additional context for Hayes' focus on liquidity. The latest data showed declines in both the Fed's total assets and the reserves held by banks, while his outlook points to balance-sheet expansion as a condition for a sustained improvement in Bitcoin market strength.
