TradingKey - Democratic momentum sparks regulatory fears, sending Bitcoin price below $76,000 to a nearly two-month low.

On November 4, as vote counting for the U.S. midterm elections progressed, preliminary results showed the Democratic Party gaining strong momentum in key House and Senate seats, directly dampening short-term risk appetite in the cryptocurrency market. Bitcoin (BTC) plunged to around $75,600 after breaking below the $76,000 round-number mark, setting a new price low for the past two months.

As vote counting showed a significantly higher probability of the Democratic Party regaining a majority in the House of Representatives, and securing breakthroughs or maintaining leads in key Senate battlegrounds such as North Carolina and Georgia, investors worried that enforcement actions against the crypto industry by agencies such as the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) could intensify again, weighing on hedge funds' willingness to build long-term positions.

In addition, the market had hoped that Congress could quickly pass the Clarity Act—which delineates the regulatory boundaries between securities and commodities—and related tax incentive bills following the election. However, if Democrats control both houses, the timeline for advancing the bill could be prolonged or face major revisions, and the delay in regulatory clarity has directly prompted market makers to liquidate positions and wait on the sidelines.

With vote counting and mail-in ballot verification still underway in West Coast states, the exact outcome determining control of Congress will take several hours to several days for state officials to complete counting and certification. If the final result leans toward the Democrats, Bitcoin's price could decline further, testing the $70,000 mark. Conversely, if the Republicans turn the tables and lock in control of Congress, Bitcoin prices are expected to reverse losses and push toward $80,000 or even $90,000.
