Bitcoin options open interest rose 6.78% from the previous day to $31.69 billion. Calls accounted for 57.70% of open interest and 60.19% of trading volume, showing a call-heavy mix across outstanding positions and daily activity.
Calls led both measures in the Bitcoin options market. Their larger share of trading volume suggested a stronger call preference in short-term activity than in accumulated positions.
As of November 4 at 12:04 UTC, Bitcoin options open interest totaled $31.69 billion, up from $29.68 billion the previous day. Trading volume stood at approximately $5.05 billion.
Calls represented 57.70% of open interest, while puts accounted for 42.30%. Across 24-hour trading volume, calls made up 60.19% and puts 39.81%.
The open-interest mix showed more outstanding exposure in calls than puts. Calls also dominated volume, with their higher share of daily activity indicating a more pronounced call preference in recent trading. These proportions alone do not establish the direction of traders’ overall exposure.
The contracts with the most open interest were, in order, the $80,000 call expiring December 25, 2026; the $100,000 call expiring December 25, 2026; and the $60,000 put expiring December 25, 2026. All were on Deribit.
The leading contracts by 24-hour volume were, in order, the $88,000 call expiring December 25, 2026; the $78,000 call expiring November 7, 2026; and the $80,000 call expiring December 25, 2026. All were on Deribit.
[Editor’s note] Options are derivatives used to take leveraged exposure to an underlying asset’s price movements or hedge existing positions. Calls give holders the right to buy at a predetermined price, while puts give holders the right to sell. Open interest measures outstanding contracts and indicates the accumulated scale of positions.
Call and put shares, alongside changes in open interest and volume, help distinguish accumulated positioning from recent trading activity. Rising open interest indicates an increase in outstanding contracts, but does not by itself establish a bullish outlook. A call-heavy open-interest mix can also coexist with defensive put trading or demand for volatility exposure.
