The crypto market is suddenly back in risk-on mode.

Bitcoin has jumped above $80,600, up roughly 4.5% over the past 24 hours, while Ethereum is gaining almost 7% near $2,435. XRP has reached $1.33, Solana is approaching $98, and Zcash is up more than 12%.

So what changed?

The strongest catalyst appears to be coming from traditional markets, where a weaker U.S. dollar, falling Treasury yields and a broader risk-asset rally are giving crypto some breathing room.

What you'll learn 👉

Bitcoin Is Following Stocks Higher as the Dollar Drops

The move accelerated after U.S. midterm election results produced a Democratic sweep of the House and Senate.

Global equities responded positively, the dollar weakened and the 10-year Treasury yield dropped roughly three basis points to 4.92%.

That combination is helping crypto.

A weaker dollar generally improves global liquidity conditions for dollar-priced risk assets, and lower bond yields reduce the appeal of sitting in cash or fixed-income products.

Reuters reported earlier today that Bitcoin and Ethereum had already started following stocks higher after initially struggling with the election result.

The rally has clearly accelerated since then.

Bitcoin has moved from around $78,000 earlier in the session to more than $80,600, putting the psychologically important $80,000 level back in play.

Crypto Was Already Positioned for a Relief Rally

There is another reason today’s move is so aggressive.

Sentiment was extremely weak coming into the session.

The crypto market lost roughly $300 billion over the past month as investors dealt with higher borrowing costs, concerns around AI stocks and the massive Binance hack. Bitcoin ETF flows had also been weak, adding pressure to an already nervous market.

That means a lot of bearish positioning had already built up.

Once Bitcoin started recovering and broke back through $80,000, some short positions likely had to be closed. That forced buying can accelerate a rebound very quickly.

It also helps explain why higher-beta assets are outperforming Bitcoin today.

ETH is up almost 7%, compared with roughly 4.5% for BTC. XRP and Solana are also gaining close to 5%.

That is classic relief-rally behavior: once Bitcoin stabilizes, traders move further out on the risk curve.

Ethereum and XRP Are Joining the Move

Ethereum has been one of today’s strongest large-cap performers.

Earlier technical analysis had ETH just above its 200-day EMA near $2,300 as market sentiment improved.

It is now trading near $2,435, meaning buyers have pushed considerably beyond that area.

XRP has also broken through the $1.30 level that traders were watching earlier today. FXStreet had identified $1.30 as the immediate bullish test when XRP was still around $1.28.

With XRP now around $1.33, that resistance has at least been cleared intraday.

The next question is if these levels can hold after the initial excitement fades.

Is the Crypto Correction Over?

Not yet.

Today’s rally is powerful, but it comes after a difficult month and several unresolved risks.

Bitcoin remains far below its previous record, institutional flows have been weak, and the Binance hack continues to weigh on confidence. Reuters also noted that Democratic control of Congress could make the path for some crypto-friendly legislation less straightforward.

That makes the next Bitcoin levels especially important.

Holding above $80,000 would make today’s recovery considerably more convincing. A move toward the $82,000-$83,000 region would show that buyers are doing more than simply covering shorts.

If BTC quickly falls back below $78,000, today’s move would look more like a temporary relief rally.

For now, though, crypto bulls have something they have been missing recently: a weaker dollar, lower yields, stronger stocks and Bitcoin reclaiming $80,000 all at the same time.
