Up to 40% of Americans would be more likely to open an account or expand their relationship with a bank that offers cryptocurrency products, according to a report released by the National Cryptocurrency Association.
The "2026 Crypto at the Bank Report," conducted with The Harris Poll, surveyed more than 2,000 U.S. adults, according to a press release. It highlights a growing consumer demand for traditional financial institutions to offer crypto offerings, such as crypto ETFs (22%), direct buying and holding capabilities (22%), and tokenized digital assets like stocks, bonds, or real estate (19%).
Despite high consumer interest, 64% of respondents reported that no one at their bank, credit union, or financial advisor's office has ever brought up cryptocurrency, while 43% were unaware if their institution offers it at all.
Demand for bank-provided crypto features is strongest among parents of minor children (62%), adults aged 35 to 44 (58%), and Hispanic (57%) and Black (56%) adults. Additionally, 67% of respondents expressed confidence in financial advisors to provide reliable crypto guidance, followed closely by banks and credit unions at 64%.
Looking ahead, 59% of Americans said they would be comfortable with their primary bank holding crypto on their behalf, and 60% expect most U.S. banks to offer cryptocurrency services within the next decade.
"Americans expect the financial institutions they already know and trust to also offer crypto access," Stuart Alderoty, president of the NCA, said in the release. "The demand is sitting in front of these institutions, but most are missing the opportunity."
