CoreWeave, a U.S. neocloud company, has asked Texas Governor-elect Gina Hinojosa to cooperate on data center development.
Bloomberg reported on November 7 that CoreWeave co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Michael Intrator sent Hinojosa a letter that day saying he strongly supports her principle that data center development should align with Texas's interests.
In the letter, Intrator said he would welcome the opportunity to work with the governor-elect's transition team on the responsible execution of already approved data center projects and on establishing clear, sustainable standards for future development.
Hinojosa has vowed to put the brakes on data center development in Texas once her term begins. In a recent interview, she said work related to data centers should be paused until safeguards are in place for residents.
Bloomberg said artificial intelligence companies are pursuing projects in an increasingly hostile political environment for data center development. It also reported that one reason Democrats won the U.S. midterm elections was a pledge to tighten regulation of AI infrastructure construction.
