Cryptocurrency markets suffered a severe and widespread sell-off on Thursday evening, with all eight major digital assets plunging sharply as bearish sentiment swept across the sector.

Bitcoin plunged 6.00% to $75,598.95, breaking below the psychologically significant $76,000 level and deepening concerns among investors about near-term price stability. Ethereum fared even worse, plunging 8.11% to $2,226.32, one of the steepest single-session declines among the larger-cap coins.

Altcoins bore the brunt of the selling pressure. Cardano plunged 8.50% to $0.18, the sharpest percentage decline across the group, whilst Dogecoin plunged 7.15% to $0.07 and XRP plunged 6.81% to $1.22. Solana plunged 6.28% to $89.50 and Avalanche plunged 5.78% to $8.23, offering little in the way of relative shelter. BNB recorded the most contained loss of the session, though it still plunged 4.58% to $686.51.

The uniformity of the decline across assets of varying market capitalisations and use cases suggests macro-driven or sentiment-led liquidation rather than any coin-specific catalyst. With no major coin spared, traders will be watching closely for signs of stabilisation heading into the overnight session.
