Cryptocurrency markets presented a mixed picture on Wednesday morning, with Bitcoin and Ethereum posting solid advances while several major altcoins retreated into negative territory.
Bitcoin rose 0.92% to $78,050.04, consolidating its position as the market's anchor and providing a degree of optimism to broader sentiment. Ethereum climbed 1.61% to $2,308.61, outpacing Bitcoin's gain and emerging as one of the stronger performers of the session. Avalanche also rose 1.47% to $8.65, rounding out the morning's notable winners.
On the downside, Dogecoin fell 1.16% to $0.07, registering the steepest percentage decline among the tracked assets. Cardano fell 0.63% to $0.19, and Solana fell 0.51% to $92.43, the latter continuing to trade well below recent highs. BNB edged down 0.11% to $697.78, while XRP edged down 0.17% to $1.27, with both coins posting only marginal losses.
The session's split between large-cap resilience and broader altcoin weakness reflects a cautious tone in digital asset markets, with investors appearing to favour more established tokens. Traders will be watching whether Bitcoin can sustain momentum above the $78,000 level as the Wednesday session develops.
