Ethereum Price Ticks Up as Crypto Market Rout Eases

Ethereum (ETH) price rose 0.52% to $2,232 on Saturday, slightly outperforming a flat broader market, primarily driven by a modest bounce as the market stabilises after a sharp sell-off.

ETH trading volume is down 67% in 24 hours, with transaction value hovering around $4.4 billion, reflecting weak buyer conviction following a recent raft of sell-offs.

Crypto analysts said altcoin price movements have strongly correlated with the S&P 500 over the past week, suggesting a shared macro-driven move.

The entire crypto market cap was nearly unchanged (-0.01%) in the last 24 hours. Ethereum’s modest gain aligns with Bitcoin’s +0.16% move, reflecting a pause after a severe sell-off driven by a tech stock rout and spot ETF outflows.

A whale bought 8,773 ETH for $19.62 million at an average price of $2,236.75 in the last 24 hours, with expectations of a sharp recovery. Technically, the RSI at 39.59 indicates oversold conditions, and the price is holding just above the daily pivot point of $2,230.86.

Large-scale buying provided localised support, while oversold conditions allowed for a minor technical rebound. Traders are tracking whether this accumulation continues or if selling pressure resumes at key Fibonacci resistance near $2,378.

The immediate path hinges on macro cues and key levels. The next major trigger is the U.S. consumer price index (CPI) report on November 10. For ETH, holding above $2,200 is crucial for a retest of $2,300.

A break below the recent swing low of $2,173 risks a decline toward the $2,100 area.

The trend is neutral to cautiously bullish in the very short term, but remains vulnerable to broader market sentiment. The $2,300 level: a decisive break above it would signal improving momentum and could attract more buyers.

Ethereum’s small gain reflects a market catching its breath, supported by whale buying and oversold conditions, but lacking a strong independent catalyst.

Traders are monitoring if Ethereum can reclaim and hold above $2,300 after the US consumer price index data release, or will it be rejected back into its recent range.

Ethereum developers postponed the next step of the Glamsterdam upgrade on the Hoodi testnet.

The delay, announced on November 6, was triggered after security firm ChainSecurity identified that proposed changes to gas accounting (EIP-8037 and EIP-8038) could break existing mainnet smart contracts that rely on specific invariants.

This is neutral to slightly bearish for Ethereum in the short term because it pushes back the timeline for scalability improvements. However, it is bullish for long-term network security, demonstrating the core developers’ commitment to rigorous, safe upgrades over rushed deployments
