Corporate ETH buying continues, but an uncertain upgrade timetable leaves Ethereum’s year-end recovery without a confirmed network catalyst.
Ethereum has gained about 6.5% in 24 hours, yet a return to $3,000 still requires another 23.3% rise. ETH is trading near $2,432 as of writing, leaving roughly $568 to recover before the end of the year.
Traders on Dexsport’s Ethereum price market put the chance of reaching $3,000 before 2027 at 28%. The bullish case has some concrete support: Bitmine continues to accumulate ETH, and Ethereum developers are working towards a substantial capacity upgrade. The question is how much either can contribute over the remaining weeks.
Bitmine keeps buying as its 5% target draws closer
Bitmine reported holding 6,060,506 ETH as of November 1. The company said it acquired another 8,573 ETH during the preceding week, while more than 5.22 million of its tokens were staked.
That gives the recovery case a buyer still willing to add exposure after October’s weakness. It also shows why the size of a treasury needs to be read alongside its latest purchases. For the next two months, the relevant figure is the 8,573 ETH bought in the latest reported week. The six million ETH total mostly reflects earlier purchases.
Bitmine is nearing its goal of owning 5% of ETH’s supply. More purchases would help the recovery, although the size of its treasury tells us little about how much it will buy before December ends. Other buyers would also need to contribute to a move towards $3,000.
Glamsterdam’s launch date is still unconfirmed
Glamsterdam, Ethereum’s next major upgrade, includes changes to block production and block-level access lists that let clients process and validate transactions in parallel. The aim is to increase the network’s capacity, which could renew investor interest in Ethereum’s growth.
The Hoodi testnet activation had been set for October 26 but the Ethereum Foundation postponed it so developers could investigate how the proposed gas-accounting changes interact with contracts already on mainnet.
The postponement notice gives neither a replacement Hoodi date nor a mainnet activation date. Successful testing and a confirmed deployment schedule could bring buyers back to the upgrade story, but a launch before the contract expires remains uncertain. ETH could rise in anticipation if investors start buying before the work is finished.
A return to $2,700 would still leave another 11%
ETH was trading around $2,702 just a month ago; even a recovery to that price would leave it roughly 11% short of $3,000.
Here, $2,700 is a historical reference, not a confirmed resistance level. Getting back there soon and holding the gains would leave more time for the remaining move. A November spent below it would put more of the burden on December.
Dexsport lists the event’s closing time as January 1, 2027, at 05:00 UTC, with earlier resolution allowed if an outcome is reached. The wording suggests ETH only needs to touch the target during the period, although the price source and precise qualifying observation still need confirmation.
A short-lived rally may therefore be enough for the contract. A sustained recovery in ETH would be more convincing if corporate buying spread beyond the current buyers and developers provided a clearer upgrade timetable.
