AI-generated video has spent the last few years living mostly in social feeds and demo reels. Fable Studio wants to move it into a movie theater, popcorn included.
The studio’s CEO, Edward Saatchi, says a crew of just 30 people spent nine months making Gods Don’t Give Gifts, an animated feature built with generative AI tools. The production still leaned on human directors, writers, voice actors and artists. The machines did a lot of the work, but people stayed in the room.
A small crew, a full-length feature
The film is directed by Zack London, who is better known online as Gossip Goblin. Fable Studio and Saatchi are producing.
It is set to open in a limited US theatrical release on December 4, 2026. The MPA has given it an R rating, so this is not a family-friendly experiment in robot-made cartoons.
The story is a sci-fi and horror anthology. It takes place on a planet called Niiro Cradle, in a transhumanist future where human consciousness has become a commodity.
The team behind it numbers roughly 30 professionals. Over nine months, they developed the scripts and produced the animation together.

The cast has picked up a recognizable name. Grimes voices Zayinth Alda, a lead character described as a NiiroCore aristocrat.
The trailer went live on October 6, 2026, and passed 15 million views shortly afterward.
London also arrives with a built-in fan base. His YouTube channel has more than 1.4 million subscribers, and his earlier short films have drawn over a billion views.
From YouTube shorts to Oscar season
Fable Studio was co-founded by Saatchi and Pete Billington. The company is backed by Amazon.
The film has also drawn distribution interest from AGC International.
The release date was moved to December to line up with awards season. The plan is to run a campaign for the Best Animated Feature Oscar.
It has been described as the first AI film to get a traditional theatrical rollout.
