Hyperliquid Strategies Inc (NASDAQ: PURR) just reported a quarter where its profit was roughly fifty times its revenue. That isn’t a business model miracle. It is mark-to-market accounting.
The company, which holds HYPE tokens as its core treasury asset, booked $13.3 million in revenue for the quarter ended September 30, 2026. Net income landed at $620.6 million, powered largely by unrealized gains on its token pile.
Where the money came from
Of the $13.3 million in revenue, $12.3 million came from staking rewards and validator commissions earned on its HYPE holdings. The remaining $1.0 million was interest income.
The company recorded $803.0 million in net unrealized gains on its HYPE position during the quarter. Unrealized means the tokens went up in value on paper, but nothing was sold. The gain shows up in net income anyway, because accounting rules require these assets to be marked to their current price.
Hyperliquid Strategies absorbed $15.3 million in non-cash expenses tied to an equity facility. It also recorded a tax provision of $172.3 million, which took a meaningful bite out of that paper windfall.
A treasury on a shopping spree
The quarter was not just about watching tokens appreciate. The company raised $911 million in equity capital and spent $802 million of it buying more HYPE.
That buying pushed its holdings from 29.3 million tokens to 38.5 million by quarter end, adding about 9.2 million tokens in three months.

By late October 2026, the treasury had grown to approximately 38.9 million HYPE.
As of September 30, 2026, total assets stood at $3.764 billion. Of that, $3.505 billion was the HYPE position, valued at $90.99 per token. The balance sheet also showed zero debt and $3.403 billion in equity.
How this compares to last year
FY2026, which ended June 30, produced net income of $305.5 million, driven mostly by $709.9 million in unrealized HYPE gains. So in a single quarter, the company more than doubled its entire previous year’s profit and topped last year’s total unrealized gains.
Hyperliquid Strategies began FY2026 with approximately 12.5 million HYPE and ended it with 29.3 million. It now holds more than three times its starting position.
The company came together through a 2025 merger involving a biotech firm and strategic investors. The goal was to build a public vehicle for accumulating HYPE. It has since positioned itself as the largest digital asset treasury focused on something other than Bitcoin or Ethereum.
What this means for shareholders and HYPE
The $12.3 million in staking and validator revenue is the only income stream that recurs regardless of where HYPE trades. The $803.0 million gain that drove this quarter’s profit can reverse just as quickly if HYPE falls.
The capital raising deserves attention too. Issuing $911 million in equity to buy tokens grows the treasury, but it also expands the share count. Whether shareholders come out ahead depends on how much HYPE each share ultimately represents, not just the size of the overall stack.
With no lenders to repay, the company faces less pressure to sell tokens during a downturn. For the HYPE ecosystem, a buyer that spent $802 million in one quarter is hard to ignore. Continued buying into late October suggests the strategy is still in motion.
