Nasdaq-listed Hyperliquid Strategies (PURR) reported $620.6 million in net income for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, while pursuing regulatory approval to expand its futures trading operations in the United States. The results included substantial unrealized gains from the company's HYPE token holdings, alongside quarterly revenue that exceeded analyst estimates.

The company also disclosed that it had applied to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to register as a futures commission merchant. If approved, the registration would allow Hyperliquid Strategies to carry US customer accounts for eligible HIP-3 markets, According to the announcement, although regulatory authorization remains uncertain.

HYPE Token Gains Drive Hyperliquid Strategies' Quarterly Profit

Hyperliquid Strategies generated $13.3 million in revenue during the quarter ended September 30, 2026. That result exceeded analyst estimates, which ranged from $10.6 million to $12 million across financial data providers.

Net income reached $620.6 million, supported largely by changes in the valuation of the company's HYPE token holdings. The financial results included approximately $803 million in unrealized gains associated with the cryptocurrency during the reporting period.

A $172.3 million income tax provision partially offset the gains recorded during the quarter.

The figures highlight the distinction between the company's operating revenue and investment-related gains. While revenue stood at $13.3 million, the substantially larger net income figure primarily reflected unrealized appreciation in its digital asset holdings rather than revenue generated from business operations.

Hyperliquid Strategies Seeks CFTC Registration for HIP-3 Markets

Beyond its financial results, Hyperliquid Strategies is seeking a regulatory pathway to participate in the US derivatives market. Its application to the CFTC requests registration as a futures commission merchant, a status that could allow the company to carry customer accounts for eligible markets operating under the HIP-3 framework.

HIP-3 is designed to enable independent operators to establish permissioned trading markets using Hyperliquid's blockchain infrastructure. Under the proposed arrangement, those operators would manage their respective markets while meeting applicable regulatory requirements.

Hyperliquid Strategies intends to help make perpetual futures available to US customers through a regulated structure. However, the company has emphasized that approval is not guaranteed. The filing also does not establish a confirmed launch date or ensure that permissioned HIP-3 markets will receive authorization.

ICE Collaboration Adds Another Potential US Expansion Route

The CFTC application follows a separate development involving Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange. ICE recently agreed to collaborate with TradeXYZ on bringing Hyperliquid-based perpetual futures markets to US traders.

Under the arrangement, ICE would provide exchange and clearing infrastructure, while TradeXYZ would be responsible for market design. The collaboration represents another potential route for introducing Hyperliquid-based derivatives through established financial market infrastructure.

Separately, President Donald Trump previously indicated that his administration was working toward bringing Hyperliquid into the United States legally.

Together, the regulatory application and ICE collaboration reflect efforts to expand access to Hyperliquid-based derivatives in the American market. However, the proposed services remain subject to regulatory requirements and the development of authorized trading markets.
