ISMOS has launched a global education platform and set a goal of training 1 million Bitcoin (BTC) developers, expanding a program that began in Latin America for Spanish speakers.

The platform combines study programs, mentorship and fellowships. Its 1 million target is for Bitcoin developers; the curriculum also covers a wider range of technical subjects associated with “Freedom Tech.”

Students can study cryptography, cybersecurity, mathematics, artificial intelligence, Nostr, open-source software and open AI models, alongside Bitcoin. The platform is open source, with tools available for software developers to explore. Programs are offered in Spanish, Portuguese and English, and ISMOS plans to add more languages.

The organization began as LibrerĂa de Satoshi, a Bitcoin school for Spanish speakers. Since its 2021 start, it has engaged more than 3,665 people across more than 40 countries and provided financial support to 30 open-source developers.

Btrust and the Human Rights Foundation provide most of ISMOS’ support. OpenSats and the Gemini Opportunity Fund provided smaller grants in the past.

Founder and CEO Dulce Villarreal said she started Librería de Satoshi after experiencing language barriers in Bitcoin. “Talent is universal; opportunity is not,” Villarreal said. She described ISMOS as an effort to extend the program globally so developers in different locations can pursue technical careers. The organization also plans to establish local hubs.
