TL;DR
- Ledger Flex was the best-value deal of 2025. Its $70 Bitcoin bonus brought the effective cost down to $179, the same price as the Nano Gen5, but with a sharper screen and a sturdier build.
- We’d recommend the Ledger Nano Gen5 to most people at full price because it pairs a 2.8-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth and NFC for $179.
- Ledger Nano X still uses an older EAL5+ chip, though, so we'd only buy it at that price, and mainly as a backup device.
- Ledger Nano S Plus is the cheapest way to get Ledger's EAL6+ security, but it wouldn't connect to our iPhone 16, so it's only for desktop or Android users.
On-chain researchers estimated that $86 million to $93 million was drained from more than 300 wallets in October 2026 after tampered Ledger devices reached buyers through a reseller in Southeast Asia. We compared all five current Ledger hardware signers on price, specs, and phone support. You’ll know which cold wallet is perfect for you, the available discounts, and how to buy one without getting a bad device, along with the deal.

When Do Ledger Black Friday Deals Start?
Ledger hasn’t announced dates or offers for its 2026 Black Friday sale yet. Black Friday itself falls on November 27, 2026, and if Ledger follows last year’s pattern, the sale should go live about a week before that.
In 2025, Ledger’s sale ran from November 21 to December 18. That’s almost a month, which means you don’t need to stay up on Black Friday night to get the price. Ledger also tends to use Bitcoin vouchers instead of straight price cuts on its newer devices, so the price you pay at checkout can look the same even while a deal is running.
The bigger question this year is where to buy. On October 9, Ledger asked reseller CryptoBilis to stop all sales and shipments after buyers in Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines reported funds disappearing. Ledger later confirmed that a hidden implant had been added to at least one of those devices, and that the implant didn’t modify the Secure Element or Ledger’s operating system.
Instead, it captured the recovery phrase during setup. Former Mt. Gox CEO Mark Karpelès, who examined several units, said the implant went undetected by Ledger’s Genuine Check. Researchers reported that tampered units were listed at nearly half the price of genuine hardware, which is exactly what a “deal” looks like in late November.
At the time, Ledger said its direct sales channels were unaffected, so if you must buy, do so only from shop.ledger.com this year, even if a marketplace seller lists the same device for less.
How We Evaluated These Ledger Wallets
Our picks are based on Ledger’s official spec sheets, current list prices from Ledger’s own sales channels, and the offers Ledger ran during Black Friday 2025. Since Ledger hasn’t published its 2026 offers yet, we used last year’s sale as the benchmark for what a realistic discount looks like on each model.
Our scoring came down to four things:
- Transaction review: whether the screen can show a full receiving address and amount at once, or splits it across several pages.
- Phone support: whether it works with iPhone, Android, or only a desktop cable.
- Security chip: whether the Secure Element carries the newer CC EAL6+ certification or the older EAL5+.
- Deal value: what last year’s Black Friday offer did to the effective price, using Ledger’s published 2025 offers.
If you’re new to crypto and deciding whether a Ledger hardware wallet is the best approach, you might want to explore the best crypto wallets for beginners first. This will clarify how crypto wallets work and help you decide whether you need a software wallet or a hardware wallet.
The Best Ledger Deals in 2026
The best Ledger Black Friday deals in 2026 will likely follow last year’s split, with Bitcoin bonuses on the touchscreen models and a direct discount on the Nano X. Until Ledger confirms its offers, the prices below are current list prices, along with what each device cost in 2025.
1. Ledger Nano Gen5
Ledger Nano Gen5
Overview
- 2.8-inch secure screen for clear transaction review
- EAL6+ Secure Element protects crypto assets & identity
- Recovery Key included for easier account recovery
Secure your crypto with confidence
- Best for: Most people buying their first touchscreen hardware wallet
The Nano Gen5 is Ledger’s newest Nano, replacing the old two-button design with a 2.8-inch E Ink touchscreen (300 x 400 pixels). That’s enough room to show a full receiving address on one screen, while the Nano S Plus and Nano X split long addresses across several screens you have to click through.
The box includes a Ledger Recovery Key, an NFC card you tap against the back of the device to store an encrypted copy of your backup, along with three paper recovery sheets. It connects over USB-C, Bluetooth, and NFC, so it works with iPhone, Android, and desktop.
The plastic body is the main compromise. At 46 grams, it’s lighter than the 58-gram Flex, and it doesn’t get the Flex’s Gorilla Glass screen cover. The screen is also lower resolution.
2. Ledger Flex
Ledger Flex
Overview
- 2.8-inch Gorilla Glass display for clear transaction review
- EAL6+ Secure Element protects your private keys
- Bluetooth & NFC connectivity with up to 10-hour battery life
Secure your crypto on the go
- Best for: Active users who sign transactions every week
The Flex was the deal we’d have picked last year. Ledger added $70 in Bitcoin to each purchase, which brought its effective cost down to $179, the same as a full-price Nano Gen5. Keep in mind that the bonus arrives as a Bitcoin voucher you redeem after buying, so its value moves with the BTC price.
Next to the Gen5, the difference is easy to see. The Flex uses a sharper 480 x 600 pixel E Ink display behind Gorilla Glass, which makes contract details easier to read when you approve a token swap. It’s also the heavier, sturdier device at 58 grams, and Ledger rates the battery at up to 10 hours of normal use or 150 transactions.
The Flex doesn’t support wireless charging, so you’ll be using the USB-C cable. If you connect to decentralized apps (dApps) or move funds between wallets often, it’s the touchscreen we’d reach for, especially if the Bitcoin bonus returns this year.
3. Ledger Stax
Ledger Stax
Overview
- 3.7-inch wrap-around display for clear transaction review
- Bluetooth & NFC connectivity for flexible everyday use
- Up to 10-hour battery life + Qi wireless charging
Premium security, made intuitive
- Best for: Collectors and anyone who wants the largest screen
The Stax is about the size of a credit card and has a 3.7-inch curved E Ink touchscreen that wraps around one edge. It’s the only Ledger with Qi wireless charging, so it can share a charging pad with your phone. The magnetic shell is included in the box, and you can set an image or NFT as the lock screen, which stays visible even when the device is off.
The extra screen space helps most when you’re signing complex transactions, such as staking or approving a smart contract, because more detail fits on each page. For simply holding Bitcoin, though, it does the same core job as the Gen5 and Flex, using the same EAL6+ Secure Element.
Last year’s $80 Bitcoin bonus brought the effective price down to about $319, which still leaves a $140 gap over a discounted Flex. We’d only pay that if the bigger screen and wireless charging matter to you.
4. Ledger Nano S Plus
Ledger Nano S Plus
Overview
- EAL6+ Secure Element protects your private keys
- Compact 1.1-inch screen with simple two-button controls
- USB-C support + 15,000+ cryptocurrencies
Affordable offline crypto security
- Best for: Long-term holders on a tight budget who use a desktop or Android phone
The Nano S Plus gives you Ledger’s newer EAL6+ chip at the lowest price in the lineup. It has no battery or Bluetooth, and at 21 grams, it’s the lightest Ledger in the lineup. You plug it in, approve with the two side buttons, and unplug it when you’re done.
That simplicity has a clear limit. It won’t work with an iPhone at all, because the Nano S Plus supports Android 10+ but not iOS. On a desktop, the 1.1-inch screen also splits a Bitcoin address across several pages, so you’ll check it one section at a time.
If you’re buying Bitcoin for the first time and plan to hold it for years, the Nano S Plus covers what you need. Last year’s $10 Bitcoin bonus was small, so we wouldn’t plan a purchase around it.
5. Ledger Nano X
Ledger Nano X
Overview
- Compact 1.1-inch screen in a portable design
- EAL5+ Secure Element protects your private keys
- Bluetooth connectivity + up to 5-hour battery life
Secure crypto wherever you go
- Best for: iPhone users who want a cheap backup signer
The Nano X got the biggest discount of Ledger’s 2025 sale. Ledger cut it in half across every colour, bringing the price to about $75. At that price, it was the cheapest way to get a Ledger that works with an iPhone over Bluetooth.
The Nano X is the older design in the lineup. It pairs with an iPhone over Bluetooth, but the small screen and two buttons make checking a full address slow, and it has no NFC or Recovery Key support. It also runs an older Secure Element rated CC EAL5+, one level below every other current Ledger.
At full price, we’d spend the extra $30 on a Nano Gen5. At half price, the Nano X makes sense as a second device that holds a copy of your wallet, which is how Ledger itself pitched it last year.
Ledger Deals: Quick Comparison
Ledger’s five current signers range from $69 to $399. The table compares each one’s list price with what last year’s Black Friday offer did to its effective cost.
Effective costs treat the Bitcoin bonus at face value when it was issued. 2026 offers haven’t been announced yet.
Which Ledger Should You Buy?
The right Ledger depends on your phone and how often you sign transactions. For most people, a touchscreen model is worth the extra money, because checking an address on one screen is where mistakes get caught. Our full roundup of the best hardware wallets in 2026 also compares Ledger with other brands.
Best Ledger for Most People
The Ledger Nano Gen5 is the one we’d recommend to most buyers at full price. It gives you a touchscreen, Bluetooth, NFC, and the Recovery Key for $179. If Ledger brings back a Bitcoin bonus close to last year’s $70 on the Flex, though, the Flex becomes the better buy at roughly the same effective cost.
Best Budget Ledger
The Ledger Nano S Plus is the best budget pick if you use a desktop or an Android phone. If you have an iPhone, wait to see whether the Nano X drops to around $75 again, since that would make it the cheapest Ledger that works with iOS.
Best Premium Ledger
The Ledger Stax is our premium pick, mainly for its screen and wireless charging. Ledger also announced the Ledger Atom in October, but it’s an $849 Android-based device that won’t ship until summer 2027, so you can’t buy it this Black Friday.
Best Ledger for Mobile Users
The Ledger Flex is our pick for phone users because it pairs over Bluetooth with both iPhone and Android, and its screen makes approving a transaction quick. It runs with the Ledger Wallet mobile app (formerly Ledger Live). If you trade on the go, our list of the best cryptocurrency apps covers exchanges you can connect it to.
Whichever model you choose, order from shop.ledger.com, keep your recovery phrase offline, and set up the device yourself from scratch. Nothing has announced anything for 2026, yet that makes it worth risking a cheaper unit from an unknown seller.
FAQs
Which Ledger wallet is best for beginners?
The Ledger Nano Gen5 is the best Ledger for beginners. Its touchscreen walks you through setup, shows full addresses on one screen, and works with iPhone and Android. If you only use a desktop computer, the cheaper Nano S Plus is a simple alternative.
Which Ledger wallet is best for Bitcoin?
Every current Ledger secures Bitcoin the same way, using a Secure Element chip that keeps your private keys offline. For holding Bitcoin long-term, the Nano S Plus is enough. If you send Bitcoin often, a touchscreen model like the Gen5 or Flex makes checking addresses easier.
Is Ledger Nano Gen5 better than Ledger Flex?
The Ledger Flex is better built, with a sharper 480 x 600 pixel screen behind Gorilla Glass and a heavier, more solid body. The Nano Gen5 costs $70 less at list price. Both offer Bluetooth, NFC, and the same EAL6+ chip, so the deal on the day should decide it.
Which Ledger wallet is the most secure?
The Nano Gen5, Flex, Stax, and Nano S Plus all use the same CC EAL6+ certified Secure Element, so they offer the same chip-level protection. The Nano X uses an older EAL5+ chip. In practice, buying direct from Ledger matters more than which model you choose.
What happens if you lose your Ledger wallet?
Your crypto isn’t stored on the device, so losing it doesn’t mean losing your funds. You can restore your wallet on a new Ledger using your 24-word recovery phrase. Ledger’s optional Recover service, which costs $9.99 per month, offers a paid backup instead.
