Diesel just became something you can trade from a crypto wallet. MF Markets, the self-custodial perpetual futures platform operated by MANTRA SPC, has added a permissionless market for New York Harbor ultra-low sulfur diesel, priced in US dollars per gallon.
The launch was announced on November 4, 2026. It puts one of the most important fuel benchmarks in the US next to Bitcoin and tech stocks on the same screen.
What MF Markets actually launched
The new listing is a perpetual futures market tracking New York Harbor ultra-low sulfur diesel, usually shortened to ULSD. In practical terms, it lets traders bet on whether the price of a gallon of diesel goes up or down.
On MF Markets, those positions are backed by USDC, the dollar-pegged stablecoin. The platform offers leverage of up to 40x on selected markets, with the exact ceiling depending on which asset is being traded.
The diesel market slots into a broader menu. MF Markets pitches itself as a single app covering crypto, stocks, indices, commodities, and foreign exchange, all collateralized in USDC.
The company has also rolled out additional desktop access features, a sign it is courting traders who prefer a full workstation over a phone screen.
Why self-custody is the selling point
The “permissionless” label carries a lot of weight in this launch. MF Markets says trading is self-custodial, meaning users sign every transaction directly from their own wallets rather than handing funds to the exchange.
Orders are executed onchain against a public order book. Anyone can see the bids and asks, which is a sharp contrast to the opaque internal matching engines many centralized venues run.

The token side of the setup is fairly simple. USDC is the collateral for the diesel market, while the MANTRA token is linked to platform fees.
Why New York Harbor diesel matters
New York Harbor ULSD is not an obscure product. It serves as a key US pricing benchmark for distillate fuels, the category that includes the diesel moving trucks, trains, and a lot of industrial equipment.
Historically, this benchmark has traded on established venues like NYMEX and ICE. Those markets come with account approvals, broker relationships, and margin rules built for professional participants.
MF Markets is offering a different on-ramp. Its contract does not replace the official benchmark, but it gives wallet holders a way to take a view on it without opening a traditional futures account.
The bigger push to bring real-world assets onchain
MF Markets is part of the MANTRA ecosystem, which has been expanding into real-world asset, or RWA, style markets. The diesel listing is one of the more literal examples of that strategy: an actual physical commodity, represented as a tradable onchain instrument.
What this means for traders and the market
The most immediate impact is on access. Traders who already keep USDC in a self-custodial wallet now have a direct line to a major fuel benchmark, with no brokerage paperwork in between.
That convenience comes with real risks worth weighing. Up to 40x leverage on a commodity known for sudden supply-driven swings is a recipe for liquidations if positions are sized carelessly.
There is also the question of liquidity. Market reactions to the launch are still being evaluated, and a public order book is only as useful as the number of participants quoting on it.
For MANTRA, the listing strengthens its case as more than a single-purpose crypto project. Because its token is tied to platform fees, any meaningful trading activity in markets like diesel feeds back into the broader ecosystem story.
