Mirae Asset Group has named Mirae Asset Securities Vice President Noh Yong-woo as the new chief executive officer of DigitalX, formerly Korbit.

DigitalX said on November 5 that Noh had been tapped as its next CEO. He will be formally appointed after South Korea's Financial Intelligence Unit accepts a filing to change the chief executive of its virtual asset service provider, or VASP, and after next year's shareholder meeting.

Noh, born in 1968, graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in economics. At Mirae Asset Securities, he previously served as head of management innovation and head of group risk management. He has led the brokerage's innovation task force since November last year.

A Mirae Asset Group official described DigitalX as a key pillar of "Mirae Asset 3.0." The company will help maximize business synergies between traditional finance and digital assets, the official added.
