- The recovery would transfer blocked funds into verified addresses designated by the affected platforms.
Polygon (POL) community members have proposed a hard fork to recover 70.49 million POL linked to the Polymarket and Binance security incidents.
The funds remain trapped across five attacker-controlled addresses after Polygon PoS block producers blocked their movement.
The proposal would zero the listed addresses' POL balances and credit equivalent amounts to verified recovery wallets.
Approximately 23.86 million POL came from the Polymarket incident, while 46.63 million POL came from Binance.
The proposal requires approval through Polygon's governance process before developers can begin testing and deployment.
The proposed changes would affect only specified native POL balances, leaving other tokens and major network contracts untouched.
The proposal values the trapped funds at approximately US$6.5 million, based on POL's price on 29 October 2026.
The plan would establish an exceptional recovery process requiring community approval rather than introduce a general power to seize user funds.
