Riot Platforms sold 8,962 Bitcoin (BTC) to fund data-center development and repay debt, leaving the publicly traded miner with 2,418 BTC in a major shift in how it is using its crypto treasury.

The volume sold was about 3.7 times Riot’s remaining BTC balance. The sale connects a large reduction in the company’s Bitcoin holdings with spending on data-center development and debt repayment, the two purposes named for the transaction.

Riot’s post-sale balance is 2,418 BTC, while the sale involved 8,962 BTC. Those figures show that the quantity sold substantially exceeded the amount the miner continues to hold. The transaction is a treasury decision with two stated objectives: supporting data-center projects and addressing debt.

The move puts the proceeds of a Bitcoin sale toward infrastructure development and debt repayment, while Riot retains a smaller stated BTC position. Riot is a publicly traded Bitcoin miner, and the figures make the sale a major corporate treasury shift.
