Ripple Prime’s weekend trading service offers institutions exposure to more than 100 markets, with RLUSD accepted as collateral.
Ripple Prime is offering institutions weekend exposure to traditional markets, but XRP is not named in the launch described by popular wealth commentator Kamilah Stevenson.
In her video, Dr. Stevenson examines a service covering more than 100 markets, arguing that round-the-clock trading could eventually broaden demand for Ripple’s digital-asset infrastructure.

The immediate connection is to RLUSD, Ripple’s dollar stablecoin, which clients can post as collateral. The case for XRP is less direct, resting on potential lending services, activity on the XRP Ledger and demand for cross-currency transfers.
Weekend exposure, not weekend stock ownership
According to Stevenson, Ripple Prime launched the service on October 15, offering swaps tied to stocks, indices, ETFs, metals, energy and currencies.
These contracts provide price exposure without ownership of the underlying assets; they do not mean conventional stock exchanges have opened for weekend trading.
The YouTube epsidode says pricing comes from contracts listed on Hyperliquid, with Ripple Prime serving as the institutional counterparty and handling the blockchain connection. Clients can cross-margin positions, potentially reducing collateral requirements by offsetting exposures.
Kamilah Stevenson identifies market maker Virtu as an early user and says the offering operates under Ripple Prime’s British Virgin Islands license. Broader regional availability remains a development to watch, rather than something investors should assume is already available.
“A market that runs 24-7 needs money that moves 24-7,” she says. Stablecoin collateral can move outside conventional bank-wire hours, although that does not eliminate liquidity constraints or counter-party risk.
XRP’s opportunity is still conditional
Dr. Stevenson then points to potential XRP-backed short-term loans and the XRP Ledger’s account reserves and transaction fees as possible sources of utility. She also argues that weekend trading could strengthen the case for XRP as a bridge between crypto & fiat currencies.
That argument needs a distinction: exposure to a foreign stock index does not, by itself, establish that a swap requires settlement in that market’s currency or that XRP must handle any conversion. The video provides no confirmation that this trading service uses XRP for settlement.
Her broader thesis is that more weekend markets could spread selling pressure that currently falls heavily on crypto. That remains a possibility, not an established outcome; additional venues can also introduce thin liquidity & new leverage risks.
