On-chain analytics platform Onchain Lens highlighted the transaction, drawing attention to its potential connection with Ver, who has long been one of Bitcoin Cash's most prominent supporters. However, the analytics platform did not establish that the wallet involved belongs to the cryptocurrency entrepreneur, meaning any connection remains unconfirmed.
$163,000 Ethereum-to-Bitcoin Cash Transaction Draws Attention
The reported transaction involved 73.31 ETH being exchanged for approximately 655.74 BCH, with an estimated value of $163,000. The conversion was facilitated by THORChain, a decentralized protocol that enables cryptocurrency swaps across different blockchain networks.
The transaction attracted attention because of Ver's longstanding support for Bitcoin Cash and his history of publicly advocating for the cryptocurrency over Bitcoin.
Despite the speculation, no definitive wallet attribution has been provided. The available on-chain information confirms the reported asset conversion but does not establish who initiated it.
Why Roger Ver Became One of Bitcoin Cash's Biggest Supporters
Roger Ver entered the cryptocurrency industry in 2011 and quickly became a prominent figure in the early Bitcoin community. His aggressive promotion of Bitcoin earned him the nickname "Bitcoin Jesus."
His relationship with the mainstream Bitcoin community became increasingly strained during the debate over Bitcoin's scaling limitations. That disagreement eventually contributed to the creation of Bitcoin Cash in August 2017.
Ver subsequently became one of BCH's most outspoken advocates, arguing that its larger block sizes and lower transaction fees made it better suited to the original vision of Bitcoin as a peer-to-peer electronic cash system.
His support for Bitcoin Cash became a defining part of his public identity within the cryptocurrency industry.
Roger Ver Settles $50 Million Dispute With US Authorities
Ver has also faced significant legal challenges involving US tax authorities. In April 2024, he was arrested in Spain after US authorities accused him of failing to pay approximately $48 million in taxes related to his Bitcoin holdings and transactions.
The cryptocurrency entrepreneur had renounced his US citizenship in 2014 and maintained that the prosecution against him was unjust. He subsequently challenged Spain's extradition decision before the European Court of Human Rights in June 2025.
The legal dispute took a different direction in October 2025, when Ver and the US Department of Justice reached a settlement through a deferred prosecution agreement.
Under the agreement, Ver agreed to pay nearly $50 million in unpaid taxes, penalties and interest, bringing a major development in the legal dispute that had attracted considerable attention across the cryptocurrency industry.
For now, the latest Ethereum-to-Bitcoin Cash transaction remains an unverified link to Ver. Without confirmation of wallet ownership, the approximately $163,000 swap cannot be treated as evidence that the Bitcoin Cash advocate has resumed buying BCH.
