The sharp reversal suggests futures traders have significantly reduced their exposure to SHIB rather than maintaining or increasing leveraged positions. The shift comes amid broader cryptocurrency market volatility and continued pressure on the token's price.

SHIB Futures Activity Contracts Amid Market Volatility

Shiba Inu experienced several price swings during the week. The token climbed to $0.000004844 between Tuesday and Wednesday before falling sharply on Thursday as a broader crypto market selloff triggered more than $1 billion in liquidations across cryptocurrency positions.

SHIB subsequently dropped approximately 5%, reaching a low of $0.00000446 before staging a modest recovery. On Saturday, the token again came under pressure, trading as low as $0.00000455 amid continued market volatility.

The decline in futures flow may reflect weaker speculative participation, profit-taking or traders closing leveraged positions as market conditions become less certain. The reported figures, however, do not establish which of these factors was primarily responsible for the change.

Broader sentiment indicators also point to reduced appetite for speculative altcoin exposure. CoinMarketCap's Altcoin Season Index stood at 44 out of 100, its lowest reading since September.

What the Futures Outflow Could Mean for SHIB Price

Futures flow tracks activity in cryptocurrency derivatives markets rather than direct buying and selling of SHIB in spot markets. A decline therefore indicates reduced activity in leveraged trading but does not, by itself, confirm that demand for the underlying token has weakened by the same amount.

The effect on SHIB's price will partly depend on whether spot-market buyers can absorb selling pressure. Continued demand from investors purchasing the token directly could limit the impact of reduced futures participation.

SHIB has been declining since early October 2026 and is on course for a sixth consecutive weekly loss after September also ended lower.

On the weekly chart, the $0.00000586 level represents major resistance, corresponding to the token's 50-week moving average (50 WMA). If the decline continues, the $0.0000041 level is identified as a potential support area.
