Solana Company seeks to broaden its footprint in Hong Kong amid rising interest from major financial institutions in tokenized assets in the Asian financial hub.

As reported by the South China Morning Post on Nov. 6, the Nasdaq-listed firm is seeking to leverage rising demand for blockchain-based financial products as the Asia-Pacific region emerges as one of the major growth opportunities for its business.

Solana Company Chairman and CEO Joseph Chee thinks Asia-Pacific could be one of the most exciting markets for Solana's ecosystem.

The firm already has its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Hong Kong and is positioning itself as a provider of digital asset infrastructure and related services.

Last month, Solana Company was listed as one of Hong Kong's strategic enterprises by the Office for Attracting Strategic Enterprises. The designation emphasized the firm's potential role in Hong Kong's burgeoning digital asset sector.

The firm now aims to identify opportunities to offer traditional financial institutions blockchain infrastructure, especially for their work in tokenizing real-world assets.

Tokenization market is picking up steam

Hong Kong has been pushing for tokenization as part of its efforts to become a global digital asset hub.

During Hong Kong FinTech Week earlier this week, Securities and Futures Commission CEO Julia Leung announced that regulators had already approved 17 tokenized investment products for retail investors.

In total, the products manage around $1.3 billion in assets (a 34% surge from last year).

Although the tokenization industry has been growing, Chee admitted that Hong Kong is not as advanced as the U.S. when it comes to tokenization.

Even so, the fact that Hong Kong's tokenization industry is still nascent might be an opportunity for firms that could offer the necessary infrastructure.

Solana Company is now looking into boosting its local presence in Hong Kong to leverage the rising demand.

Chee said the firm might be ready to scale up its local workforce from fewer than 10 employees to as many as 30.

The next six months will be crucial for assessing the growth of the local market.
