Stellar's XLM token slid to $0.15 on Thursday, an 8.10% decline in 24 hours, putting the cryptocurrency at the lower edge of its recent trading range and squarely on a support level that could determine its next directional move.
The session range of $0.17 to $0.15, based on Binance spot data, shows price has retraced to the bottom of the day's action rather than staging a mid-range recovery. Broader timeframes are worse: XLM is down 11.4% over seven days and 29% over the past 30, according to CoinGecko figures. Bitcoin's 5.6% drop over the same 24-hour window suggests the selloff is market-wide rather than specific to Stellar.
A Chart Under Pressure
Every major trend filter sits above the current price. XLM trades below its 7-day simple moving average at $0.16, the 20-day SMA at $0.17, the 50-day SMA at $0.19 and the 200-day SMA at $0.18. The exponential averages tell the same story, with the 12-day EMA at $0.16 and the 26-day EMA at $0.17.
Momentum gauges point to weakness that has not yet reached capitulation. The 14-period relative strength index reads 32.46, close to oversold but short of the level that typically precedes a reversal. Stochastic readings of 6.75 and 5.40 place the market at the bottom of its recent band, while the moving average convergence divergence indicator sits at -0.0085 with a matching signal line and a histogram pinned at zero. That combination describes bearish momentum that is present but not accelerating.
Bollinger Band positioning reinforces the message. The middle band rests at $0.17, the upper band at $0.19 and the lower band at $0.15, with the %B reading at -0.0205. In practice, XLM is trading at the floor of its recent volatility envelope, making the next session a referendum on whether buyers can defend the zone or sellers force a break.
Note: Levels from Binance spot and derivatives data as of Nov. 6, 2026.
A move back above $0.16 would be the first sign buyers are regaining control of the intraday structure. Should $0.15 fail, the next meaningful test is $0.14, and a clean break below that would undercut the case for an immediate base. Until price reclaims the short-term averages and holds above the range floor, the evidence describes a market attempting to stabilize rather than one that has turned higher.
Derivatives Fail to Confirm Direction
Futures positioning offers little clarity. Binance's 8-hour funding rate is -0.0140%, meaning short sellers are paying longs, a configuration that suggests leveraged traders are leaning against the prevailing move. Funding alone, however, does not establish how strong or durable that stance is.
Open interest rose 3.25% over 24 hours to $30,914,646, with real-time open interest at 198,128,738 contracts. Rising open interest during a spot decline can signal fresh participation entering the move, but the data cannot distinguish trend-following flow from positioning for a rebound.
Account ratios lean long, though moderately. Global accounts showed 52.7% long against 47.3% short at 07:00 UTC, while top-trader accounts were more bullish at 59.5% versus 40.5%. Taker flow also tilts toward buyers, with a buy/sell ratio of 1.1021 and buy volume of 3,772,402 against sell volume of 3,422,896. Active buying is still present, but it has not been forceful enough to reverse the spot downtrend.
What Is Driving the Move
No Stellar-specific catalyst has surfaced for the decline. The daily returns of XLM and Bitcoin have carried a correlation of 0.84 over the past 30 days, calculated from Binance data, indicating the token largely tracks the broader market. Liquidations of leveraged long positions across crypto added to the pressure, and a Nasdaq chip rout that hit every large coin provided the external trigger.
The project's own calendar offers the next scheduled event: validators are due to vote on Nov. 23 on activating Protocol 30, known as Bell, on the mainnet, though that date could still shift. Holders face no migration requirement, and existing addresses remain valid.
Market Implications
For traders, the setup is binary and tightly defined. The gap between immediate support at $0.15 and immediate resistance at $0.16 is narrow, meaning a decisive move in either direction could come quickly. The proximity of the 30-day low at $0.151 adds weight to the current level, since a break would mark a fresh monthly trough and likely invite momentum-driven selling.
For longer-horizon holders, the more relevant threshold is the 200-day average at $0.183, some 20% above current prices. XLM would need to clear a series of moving averages stacked overhead before the trend picture improves. The all-time high of $0.876 leaves the token down roughly 83% from its peak.
The macro backdrop remains the dominant variable. As long as Bitcoin holds the $75,000 area, a move back toward the 50-day average near $0.192 remains conceivable. If that Bitcoin level gives way, the 30-day low becomes the first casualty. Derivative traders appear to be hedging both outcomes, with negative funding suggesting some short-side conviction while long-heavy account ratios show many participants still betting on a bounce.
One factor working against a quick rebound is the absence of a dated catalyst before the Protocol 30 vote. Without a fresh headline to shift sentiment, price action is likely to remain governed by technical levels and Bitcoin's direction. The compressed range between $0.14 and $0.17 is where that battle will be settled.
