Strategy reported record third-quarter profit on October 29, driven by a large gain on its bitcoin holdings, while the company also announced a change at the top of its finance organization. The company said Andrew Kang will step down as chief financial officer on November 5 and remain as an adviser through December 31.

Bitcoin Gain Drives Quarterly Profit
In its October 29 financial release, Strategy said operating income reached $20.91 billion in the three months ended September 30, compared with $3.89 billion a year earlier. The figure included a $20.91 billion gain on digital assets, reflecting the accounting impact of bitcoin price changes.
Net income came to $19.53 billion, or $44.75 in diluted earnings per share, versus $2.79 billion and $8.42 per share in the third quarter of 2025. Net income attributable to common stockholders was $19.12 billion after preferred-stock dividends.
The result was heavily shaped by the bitcoin treasury rather than the software operation. Strategy held 848,517 bitcoin as of October 25, according to the company, while its total revenue declined 3 percent year over year to $125.4 million. Gross profit slipped to $89.6 million from $90.7 million, although gross margin improved to 71 percent from 70 percent.
Finance Leadership Changes Next
Kang will leave the CFO role after four and a half years for personal reasons. Chief Executive Officer Phong Le will assume responsibility for the finance organization and serve as principal financial officer during the interim period.
From January 1, 2027, Reza Virasteh, currently Strategy's executive vice president of operations, is scheduled to become CFO. He will serve as co-principal financial officer with Le, who will retain responsibility for the financial management of the bitcoin strategy.
The transition adds a governance focus to a business whose earnings remain closely tied to bitcoin prices, financing conditions and the claims of preferred and debt holders. Strategy said it had $2.50 billion in cash and cash equivalents and $3.40 billion in short-term investments at September 30.
Strategy's bitcoin treasury and capital-market plans remain central to the investment case, but the company's own release cautions that bitcoin-related KPIs do not measure traditional shareholder returns or predict the trading price of its securities.
