The UNUS SED LEO price remains driven less by a confirmed new burn than by expectations surrounding recovered funds from the 2016 Bitfinex hack. The Investing.com course page read for this report displayed LEO at 9.2651 USD, with a displayed change of -1.37 percent. It also showed a 24-hour volume of 263.73K and a market capitalization of 8.52 billion USD. The figures are from the Investing.com UNUS SED LEO price page.

Recovered Bitcoin, unclear burn total

According to CryptoTicker, a US government wallet transferred 264.863 Bitcoin connected to the Bitfinex hack to Coinbase on October 6, 2026. The report said Bitfinex has committed to use at least 80 percent of the remaining net proceeds to buy and destroy LEO.

That commitment does not yet translate into a calculable number of tokens. CryptoTicker reported that recovery right token redemptions and related costs must be deducted before the net proceeds are determined. The size of that deduction and the timing of the buyback were not specified in the report. The transfer itself therefore should not be treated as evidence that an immediate LEO burn has occurred.

Recurring mechanism remains relevant

The one-off pledge is separate from iFinex's recurring buyback-and-burn mechanism. CryptoTicker reported that iFinex has pledged to use at least 27 percent of consolidated gross monthly revenues to repurchase LEO and permanently remove the tokens from circulation. This continuing mechanism provides the established deflationary element of the token model, while the Bitcoin-related pledge remains conditional on the final net amount.

Momentum meets liquidity constraints

A recent technical review by The Currency Analytics placed LEO at 9.46 USD on October 31, 2026, and identified resistance between 9.49 and 9.60 USD after a breakout above a month-long range. The same analysis cited an RSI of 80, indicating strong momentum but also a potentially overheated short-term setup. These levels are dated observations, not forecasts.

For investors, the UNUS SED LEO price should therefore be assessed alongside execution risk. A future burn could reduce supply, but its size and timing remain unknown. The displayed market capitalization is large relative to the reported turnover, making liquidity and exit conditions important factors in addition to the token's buyback narrative.
