World Liberty Financial has come up with a WLFI token buyback program, as the Trump family-backed crypto venture plans to help boost its governance token after a protracted period of falling prices. This will be done through revenues that the program will receive from various sectors of its ecosystem, such as fees on reserves supporting its USD1 stablecoin.

This announcement comes amid continuous selling of the coin, which saw the price of the coin drop by more than 73% from its November 2025 high point. The WLFI token buyback program is part of the strategy to promote continued participation in the governance of the firm.

WLFI Token Buyback Program Targets Long-Term Demand

On November 6, World Liberty Financial made an official announcement of the start of a buyback program for its governance token WLFI. According to the proposed plan, the company will buy back its WLFI tokens using income derived from various sources within its ecosystem.

One such source may be the fee income from the reserves that back its stablecoin USD1.

But there is no information about how much money the company will spend on the WLFI token buyback program and when it will start.

This program is designed to do much more than just decrease the number of tokens that exist. As it was noted in the announcement, the main goal is to promote involvement in the process of governing WLFI by token holders.

WLFI token buyback program has been described by the company as a long-term project. The circulation of tokens at present is only about 32%, with the Trump family holding about 38% of the company’s shares.

WLFI, TRUMP, and MELANIA Face Continued Price Pressure

However, the introduction of the WLFI token buyback program is happening amid hard times for cryptocurrencies that belong to Trump. There are several cryptocurrencies that belong to Trump whose performance has not been good with losses of about 73%.

This is because WLFI Token hit approximately $0.1744 in November 2025 before falling by 73%, trading at about $0.0467. WLFI Token has also fallen by 10% after the US midterm elections held in 2026.

The other coins associated with Donald Trump have also seen a drop, with TRUMP seeing about an 85% loss since last year while MELANIA has lost 41% this year.

This shows the effect of political pressure on the cryptocurrency projects. However, the WLFI token buyback program may come in handy in driving the demand for the token.

Elizabeth Warren Could Increase Regulatory Pressure on WLFI

World Liberty Financial may be under more scrutiny due to the incoming Democratic control of certain congressional committees in January. Senator Elizabeth Warren, who is predicted to head the Senate Banking Committee, has criticized many crypto firms associated with President Trump.

This may put further focus on the DeFi business of WLFI, its international links, and financial dealings. While there are no reports yet of an investigation being opened, this may present extra difficulties for WLFI.

Can the WLFI Token Buyback Program Support Its Price?

The WLFI token buyback program is designed to boost token demand and foster participation in governance. Nevertheless, the budget for the program, launch date, and buyback frequency are still unknown.

Despite the possibility of creating more demand through frequent buybacks, this strategy might not turn around WLFI’s fortunes. The future of the platform will be affected by numerous other factors.
