Binance and Deribit have revoked API keys connected to third-party cryptocurrency trading platform SignalPlus after the platform reported a potential security issue, prompting both exchanges to take precautionary action.

Binance said it had proactively revoked all API keys linked to SignalPlus. The exchange emphasized that its own systems were unaffected and that user funds remained safe.

Deribit also removed API keys associated with SignalPlus as a precaution. According to Wu Blockchain the exchange, it found no indication that its systems or data had been affected by the reported issue.

Exchanges Advise Users to Review Trading Activity

Both exchanges advised users who may be affected to review their trading positions and open orders. They also recommended that users wait for SignalPlus to confirm that the security issue has been resolved before reconnecting their accounts.

The precautionary measures affect API connections associated with SignalPlus, rather than indicating a confirmed compromise of either exchange. Binance and Deribit each stated that they had found no impact on their respective systems, while Binance separately confirmed that user funds were safe.

API keys allow third-party platforms to connect to exchange accounts and perform permitted trading-related actions. Revoking those credentials prevents the associated connections from continuing to operate until users establish new authorized access.

SignalPlus Security Issue Prompts Precautionary Response

The actions followed a potential security issue reported by SignalPlus. Neither exchange reported evidence that its internal systems or user data had been compromised, and both advised users to avoid reconnecting the platform until SignalPlus provides confirmation that the issue has been resolved.

Wu Blockchain reported the development in a post dated November 7, detailing the separate precautionary responses by Binance and Deribit.
