Strategy has swung sharply in recent years, leaving investors asking whether a stock built around Bitcoin exposure is still grounded in the company’s book value. After that kind of journey, the key issue is how much of today’s US$129.30 share price is really supported by the assets on its balance sheet.

  • Over the past 3 years, Strategy has delivered a total return of about 153.9%, which puts real weight on the question of how its current price lines up with the value of its net assets.
  • Management continues to lean on Bitcoin holdings, preferred equity and common stock issuance, which can reshape the balance sheet and may affect how closely the share price tracks book value over time.
  • The analysts covering Strategy have run their own numbers. See what analysts think Strategy's shares could be worth.

The issue now is whether Strategy’s recent share price, after a steep multi year gain and a sharp pullback, can still be explained by its book value compared with the industry average.

If you want context for a Bitcoin heavy play like Strategy, comparing it with other cryptocurrency and blockchain focused stocks can be useful. A good place to start is the 18 cryptocurrency and blockchain stocks.

Does Strategy Look Undervalued on Book Value?

P/B fits Strategy because much of the value people focus on is tied to its Bitcoin heavy balance sheet rather than near term earnings or revenue. On this yardstick, the stock trades at about 1.0x P/B, very close to its reported book value.

That level sits well below both the wider software industry on 2.6x and the peer group around 17.6x. As a result, the share price currently implies a discount to asset value compared with many software and crypto related peers. Despite the Binance hack and the volatility it triggered across Bitcoin exposed stocks, Strategy still trades on a P/B multiple that prices it below the sector’s typical valuation of equity. Explore the numbers behind Strategy's P/B valuation.

What does rising cash burn mean for AI stocks?

Alphabet had its worst day on record after reporting, and it wasn’t alone. After three years of rewarding spending by AI stocks, the market has started to become wary of just how much that growth is really costing.

Today's Q3 answers the question this update left open, whether the Q2 acceleration would last. Nights and Seats Booked grew 16%, up from the 10% you cite for Q2, and Gross Booking Value grew 21% to $27.7B. Revenue was $4.9B, up 19% (16% excluding currency), against about $4.75B consensus, and first-time bookers grew 13% against your 11%. The full-year adjusted EBITDA margin target moves to about 36% from at least 35.5%. Two caveats: the Q4 guide of $3.22B to $3.28B includes about 2 points of currency help, and management says it is "closely monitoring ongoing developments in EMEA". Today's Q1 FY27 guide updates two inputs here. Subscription ARR growth for FY27 is now about 18.5%, a touch above the 18% cited, but total revenue growth is guided at about 13.75%, below the 14.9% this valuation assumes, though both were raised tonight from August's 18% and 13%. The shape matters more than the level: Q1 grew 24% to $1,772M, the Q2 guide of $1,825M to $1,835M is about 15%, and on FY26 revenue of $6,572M the full-year guide leaves roughly 9% growth for the second half (my arithmetic). Data Center revenue is guided down about 16% for the year, and the normalizing migration benefit you flag shows in the cloud guide: about 26% for FY27 after 31% in Q1. Before leaning on "sustained high revenue growth", today's 10-Q is worth a look. Q3 revenue was $173.8M, up 336%, but that holds two months of SkyWater, closed July 31. The filing's pro forma table, which treats the 2026 deals as closed on January 1, 2025, shows Q3 at $215.8M against $217.3M a year earlier, about flat. IonQ Platform alone grew 127% to $90.3M, so on these numbers the rest of the combined business shrank, though the CFO called SkyWater's quarter very strong. The FY guide of $505M to $515M implies Q4 of about $186.5M to $196.5M, below that pro forma Q3. That may prove conservative, but it's the number to ask about.
