Visa has established six global capability hubs at its new Solution Center in Paya Lebar Green, Singapore.
In a statement, the payments group said the hubs will focus on AI, cybersecurity, quantum computing, digital money, and "next-generation payments".
The Singapore facility will employ more than 1,500 people across technology, product, cybersecurity, engineering, and innovation functions.
Visa also plans to expand specialised research, engineering, and innovation roles in areas including AI, cybersecurity, and quantum technologies.
Visa Technology president Rajat Taneja said: "We're entering an extraordinary period of commerce innovation, driven by AI, digital money and other emerging technologies. Turning that promise into progress requires technology people and businesses can trust.
"Our expanded presence in Singapore will bring together great talent, deep expertise, and trusted infrastructure to build new commerce experiences around the world."
The six hubs will operate across three areas: AI and commerce, next-generation payments, and trust, security, and resilience.
Under AI and commerce, Visa will develop applications for payments and fintech use cases. The work will include research into agentic commerce, where AI agents interact with consumers, merchants, and payment networks.
The next-generation payments hubs will examine digital money, stablecoins, programmable payments, digital wallets, and alternative payment methods. Visa said this work will support new money-movement models and payment experiences across multiple rails and networks.
The trust, security, and resilience hubs will focus on cybersecurity and quantum computing for financial services. Their work will include research into quantum technology applications and preparations for quantum-secure systems.
The teams based at the Paya Lebar Green Solution Center will work with academic institutions, government bodies, financial institutions, and fintech companies. Visa identified AXS, DBS, DCS, FOMO Pay, Nium, and StraitsX among its partners in Singapore.
Visa is also participating in the Monetary Authority of Singapore's BLOOM initiative.
Visa Asia Pacific regional president Stephen Karpin said: "Singapore is increasingly where the future of commerce is being built. Many of the world's most complex questions around payments innovation, digital money, AI and trust are being solved in Asia Pacific.
"By bringing these capabilities together in Singapore, we are creating a hub that can develop globally relevant solutions while supporting Singapore's continued leadership in technology and innovation."
"Visa sets up six hubs in Singapore for AI and 'next-generation payments'" was originally created and published by Electronic Payments International, a GlobalData owned brand.
