Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin warned that AI is creating new security and privacy risks for crypto users, while also offering tools that can help identify software vulnerabilities.
At Devcon 8, Buterin questioned whether hardware wallets are safe. He warned users not to invest in crypto based on bot-filled or manipulated social media posts.
He urged broader use of decentralized, verifiable technologies and zero-knowledge proofs to protect personal data. Buterin also said businesses should avoid collecting information they do not need.
Buterin has also warned that AI-accelerated research could weaken lattice-based cryptography.
