London-headquartered asset manager Fasanara Capital has expanded its Abu Dhabi office with the appointment of bank and fund veteran Gaurav Sanan as managing director and portfolio manager.

Sanan joined Fasanara last month after five years at Jefferies, where he headed origination for Leucadia Asset Management in Dubai. He previously spent two years as senior director of origination at Greensill, and more than two years at Falcon Group, both based in Singapore.

Those roles followed nearly a decade at DBS Bank, including as product lead for supply chain finance.

At Fasanara, Sanan has been tasked with building and managing a working capital portfolio focused on performing credit opportunities, the company said. He is also expected to strengthen institutional relationships in the region and internationally.

ā€œBeing based in the UAE provides a strong foundation for developing relationships across the region and internationally,ā€ he said. ā€œI look forward to working with institutional counterparties, partners, investors and leverage partners globally as the firm continues to expand its presence.ā€

Francesco Filia, Fasanara’s founder and chief executive, said the appointment reflects its commitment to the Middle East region and ā€œbuilds on our longstanding working capital financing activitiesā€.

ā€œGaurav brings more than two decades of experience across asset management and institutional credit markets, with deep relationships spanning global corporates, asset managers, insurers, private credit and banks,ā€ he said.

In September, Fasanara said it was setting up a private credit fund, StableFund, in partnership with stablecoin issuer Tether. The fund will include trade finance instruments and make use of the USDT stablecoin.
